James is Chairman of ODI, a think tank, senior Advisor to Systemiq a new organisation focused on system change to address sustainable development, and Chairman of purpose driven enterprises like Green Running/Verv; Engaged Tracking; and GSCM. He is an independent director of Ignite Solar.
James is a member of the Advisory Board of Heathrow 2.0; AVAIO Capital (a real asset investment fund); Carbon Cap (a Carbon asset fund); ECI at Oxford University and is an Executive Fellow at Yale.
James was co-founder of Climate Change Capital and was named Leader of the Year in 2013 at the BusinessGreen Leaders Awards. He co-founded and was Chairman of CDP; he was a member of the Green Investment Bank Commission; a Founder Director of Solar Century; and a member of the UK Prime Ministers Business Advisory Group during the Coalition government.
James is a Barrister by training and taught law as well as practised. He co-founded the Centre for international Environmental Law (CIEL). He spent many years negotiating the international agreements on climate change, building the coalition which became AOSIS (island states), and latterly advising the Presidency of the UNFCCC (COP22/23, Morocco and Fiji).
