Matthew leads the UK business, which is home to the company's largest portfolio of offshore wind farms as well as bioenergy and storage projects, and business energy sales. Since joining in May 2017, Matthew has overseen the rebranding of the company in the UK, Ørsted's first venture into commercial battery storage and the opening of two major offshore wind projects, including the world's biggest offshore wind farm, Walney Extension.
Matthew is responsible for Ørsted's reputation in the UK and growing the company across all of Ørsted's business units.
Prior to joining Ørsted, Matthew spent 10 years in the UK water sector, first as Managing Director at United Utilities and subsequently as CEO of Southern Water, a position he held for six years.
Previously, Matthew spent 20 years in the electricity industry and held a number of senior strategic and operational roles with ScottishPower in the UK, and PacifiCorp in the USA.
In total, Matthew has over 30 years' experience in the utilities sector.
